(This is the 2nd shot used from the Demo with Siobhan) These are shots from a demo in Portraiture Photo 220 class at City College.  Camera was a Canon 1Ds MkII with a Diffused Hasselblad/Zeiss 150mm lens set at f11
  Lights Used:

KEY: Softbox in "Paramount/Butterfly" Position on axis with the face.

FILL: White Panel Reflector set to reflect light from the hair light

HAIR: 10" Scoop with Diffusion Gel.

For this shot I wanted a sultry look so asked her to get close into the guitar and took advantage of her eyes.

I moved the main light to create a Butterfly or Paramount style but left the hair/back light where it was.

1.  Original Shot #17 From Camera .

This shot had the  sultry look to it I wanted and was, to me, reminiscent of the old studio Promo shots.  But there was too much in it to distract from the "look."

2.  The first thing to do was to crop it into the face where the real picture was hiding and then soften it a bit...

Here is the result of the crop and some softening using Photoshop tools including the "Dust and Scratches" and "Gaussian Blur."

However after seeing it cropped and retouched I realized how much it reminded me of some of the studio Black and Whites so I decided to convert it to grayscale.

3.  And here is the final version.

Smokin'...
