BOOKS and OTHER PUBLICATIONS

Welcome to my book page.   You can see information on books or other publications I've done and you can order copies of my books as they are available.

Currently the site has information on the following publications (click on the titles or the sample covers to go to that book's page for complete details):

Thinking Digitally. This is a primer for students and other photographers making the transition from film to the digital realm.  It is a book more about issues and "whys" than a technique book on the "hows."  For details click on the link to the left or the cover to the right.

It is currently available to order so there is also an online order form in that book's section.

Practical 3D Photography.  This fascinating photographic approach produces a variety of image types that can recreate a real sense of depth and dimension in the picture  Used both for art and commercial needs, it is the ultimate way to put the viewer in the picture.  If you haven't seen one before this will amaze you.  and if you have, you'll be amazed at how easy it is to make them.

It is currently available to order so there is also an online order form in that book's section.

Becoming a Black Belt Photographer.  We're all familiar with the symbol of the martial arts black Belt; it stands for skill and excellence at the wearer's art.  This book borrows on that tradition and explores what is required, in a figurative sense, to earn a Black Belt in photography.

It is currently in progress with an expected completion date of December 2005.

TEWA.  This is an exhibit "catalog" produced to coincide with the first exhibition of photographs from the "Tewa" project documenting the Tewa-speaking Native Americans along the Rio Grande near Santa Fe New Mexico.  Initially this was to be the first in a series of portfolios updating the work of Edward Curtis.  It was purchased by Mesa Verde National Park in 1983 as a traveling exhibition and has been all over the country.  The first edition of this catalog was sold out within a year but was never reprinted.  It contained excerpts from the text I wrote for the portfolio and a foreword by Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater who owned one of Edward Curtis's original complete sets and was an avid photographer of the southwest himself.

Santa Fe The City Different.  This was my first book, a collection of black and white photographs of major sites around the city plus historical captions.  Alas, it is no longer in print after three editions, but there is information on it here and some sample pages.

Calendars.  My first hand-printed, limited edition calendar was for 2003.  The one for 2005 is in preparation now.
