I spent most of my career as a professional photographer, videographer, and producer in Colorado.  Then in January of 2000 I  came to San Diego to teach and now am an Assistant Professor of Photography at San Diego City College.

It quickly became clear that much as I love teaching, I also love to shoot and simply am not happy away from camera and studio.  This site reflects all of that.

FOR STUDENTS...

For my City College students, you can use this site to access data about my current courses as well as find and download technical articles, essays, forms, etc. to help you in your photography.  Just click on the link to the left or CLICK HERE to go to the SDCC Student Section.

You can also participate in the Photo Student's Forum to discuss assignments, projects, class topics, get help from other students, exchange ideas, etc. in a public arena that can be shared by all of my students.

FOR ALL VISITORS...

On this site you can... 

• View my portfolios of commercial and portrait work and contact me for projects or assignments in the "Creative Services" section.  I still do photo illustration and product work and editorial/executive/fine-art portraiture. 
  
• View and order one of my books or other publications in the "Publications" section,  
  
• Find out about me and what is happening in my world in the "About David" section, 
  
  
• A legacy Portfolio Section showing some samples of older non-commercial work is available.  It contains pages and images taken, in some cases, quite a long time ago. it is from one of my first attempts at creating a web site and many images are not optimized properly but it will give the viewer an idea of some of my past historical work in both photography and in other fine art mediums.  Nearly all of the photographs in this collection were captured initially on film.  For newer and digital images see the next section. 
   
•  A new Photo Galleries Section  contains some images captured since 2002 / 3 and is nearly all digital capture.  The section has a number of galleries grouped generally by theme or topic but sometimes by date or event (such as a trip).
   
• There is also a section (Currently under construction) containing some of my Writing.  I've been told that I am opinionated and here is my chance to prove it.  I would forewarn you however, I have zero interest in political correctness, I believe the political legacy of Rousseau and Godwin is unburdened with even the slightest connection to history, human nature, or even reality, and consider sacred cows to be one of my favorite meals.  So if you decide to take a look there don't say I didn't warn you.
   
• Plus, there is a page of Links to colleagues, friends, and other sites I think you might also find interesting. 

Whew!  That's a lot... but then this is a large site, so take your time... and enjoy.
